DIY Wedding Shower Ideas
Miss Ashley
There's no doubt that planning a wedding takes time, hard work, and lots of deep breathing. So who wants to stress about planning the wedding shower? No one! In fact, the less stress the better. Thus, the simpler the wedding shower ideas, the better. However, simplicity doesn't have to equal a boring wedding shower! Here are some simple but fun wedding shower ideas suited for even the most demanding bride and groom:
Vintage Wedding Shower: This idea is so versatile! Couples simply pick the era of their choice. They can then decorate with colors associated with the time period. For example, the ‘80s could be represented with bright, neon colors. Decorations for the ‘60s could be primary colors in geometrical shapes, etc. The local thrift store could not only offer outfits for the occasion, but centerpieces for tables. Music from the era of choice would be played at the shower. Entertainment and games should also be time-period appropriate.
Candy Land Wedding Shower: This idea is as sweet as they come! To give a shower a candy theme, all one would need is candy! And candy dishes, of course. Candy dishes and displays should be set up at every corner. Each guest table could have a candy theme—chocolate, butterscotch candies, peppermints, etc. Run-of-the-mill wedding shower games could be renamed to give a candy-like feel including words like "sweet” and "tart”. Party favors could include sweet scented candles or perfumes, and bags of candy!
Black and White Wedding Shower: Simple, but classy. The black and white wedding shower is as versatile as the vintage shower. Everything from what the guests wear, to the decorations, to the foods served can be combinations of black and white. The music and games would be up to personal choice. This is an easy and fun way to have a theme without having to put in too much work.
As with any event one might be planning, invitations should be sent out well in advance—at least 2-3 weeks prior. With any themed event, the invitation should clearly match the theme, and announce it in some way. This is especially important if the guests are being asked to dress to match the theme.
To come up with more wedding shower ideas, one can simply pick anything that they like—a band, a color, a flower—and incorporate it into the decorations, tables, food, music, games, etc. The most important thing is that the couple and their guests have a good time!
